Lil Ugly Mane (also known as Travis Miller, Bedwetter, Vudmurk, and a plethora of other pseudonyms) is a hip-hop artist and producer who has been an artist's artist since 2005. After a 6 year hiatus, Travis released a new album under his Lil Ugly Mane name titled Volcanic Bird Enemy and the Voiced Concern in 2021. This record shook long-time fans as it isn't exactly the same as what he has released in the past.
Travis's comeback album gives us a new perspective on his music. As you jump into the introduction track bird enemy car, the robotic vocals played throughout the track repeat the phrase "Who are you?" leaving you wondering what exactly this question means. This question is directed toward himself, as he finds himself to be lost musically. This record represents his shift from hip-hop to just about everything else. Thus, defining a new era of Lil Ugly Mane.
This album brings an unsettling feeling of nostalgia, as if you were remembering a bad memory from your childhood. Although the feeling isn't all bad, as Travis uses magically crafted production (think 1950s Chuck-E-Cheese mixed with Disney's Fantasia) to combat his depressing concepts throughout all 19 tracks. There are many genres on this record and yet it still flows perfectly and keeps its tone throughout.
